Who should apply?
Our dance residencies are designed for professional and emerging dance artists from Ireland and abroad. We welcome artists from all dance backgrounds and styles, especially those interested in community engagement, collaboration, or developing new work in a supportive rural environment. Whether you’re an established choreographer or an emerging creator, Dance Laois offers the space and community to nurture your artistic journey.
A day in residency
A typical residency at Dance Laois offers artists the freedom to shape their own creative rhythm. Days often include studio time for research, creation, and rehearsal, along with opportunities to connect with our youth and pre-professional dancers, or share practice through open sessions and community workshops. Set in the heart of Portlaoise, the experience balances focused artistic work with the calm and inspiration of rural Ireland.
What you'll gain
Through a residency at Dance Laois, we hope participants gain the time, space, and support to fully immerse themselves in their creative process. We aim for artists to leave feeling inspired, connected, and re-energised — having developed new ideas, built meaningful relationships, and discovered the unique sense of community that defines Portlaoise and rural Ireland.
